POWER BILLS in suburban Cebu will rise by at about 31%, as the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) yesterday approved the rate application of a regional distribution utility.
The ERC is ushering in a round of increases in distribution charges with its decision to allow Cebu I Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Cebeco) to increase rates by an average of P0.35 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) starting the February billing period.
Cebeco, whose area of responsibility lies just outside Cebu’s cities, will charge starting February 74 centavos/kWh for distribution charges, 25 centavos for supply charges, and 23 centavos for metering charges.
The old rates were 63 centavos for distribution, 20 centavos for supply, and 8 centavos for metering.
