Director General Avelino Razon Jr., Philippine National Police chief, has ordered all police station commanders in Metro Manila to spend six hours in the field to personally supervise police visibility operations.
Razon passed the directive after robbers struck twice within two hours in Quezon City that left one security guard dead and two bystanders injured.
The police chief said he instructed all station commanders in Metro Manila supervise police visibility operations from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. all station commanders should be in the streets to supervise police visibility,” Razon said.
He said he also ordered all police chiefs in Metro Manila to review police visibility measures. He said the police should draft new visibility deployment to avoid being outwitted by criminal elements.
“They should study the deployment of personnel. It should not be fixed and to avoid being familiarized by the robbers,” he said.
